Heng (Mavis) Luo is a versatile legal practitioner with an extensive and diverse background in law, finance, and engineering, providing her with a unique and strategic approach to her legal practice. After immigrating to Canada in 2017, Mavis completed her Canadian legal education in 2019, articled at a mid-sized firm in Calgary in 2021, and was called to the Alberta bar in January 2023.
Prior to her Canadian practice, Mavis earned an LLM in Law in the UK and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) for England C Wales. She also holds a master’s degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from prestigious UK institutions, adding a robust technical and financial foundation that complements her legal expertise.
Mavis’s professional credentials include the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) and CVA® (Chartered Valuation Analyst) certifications, underscoring her advanced financial and analytical skills. These qualifications enhance her work in areas such as corporate law,
business transactions, and estate planning, enabling her to deliver exceptional value to clients.
As a dedicated lifelong learner, Mavis strongly values continuous education. She has earned the TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner) designation and is a full member of STEP, reflecting her commitment to providing clients with comprehensive guidance in family business and succession planning. With her extensive background in investment and finance, Mavis is well-positioned to offer clients invaluable insights in these critical areas of legal practice.
Before relocating to Canada, Mavis amassed over a decade of experience in finance and international trade, developing an in-depth understanding of the Chinese investment landscape. She was entrusted with the establishment of localized financial platforms across the United States, Brazil, Mexico, India, and several Southeast Asian countries. This extensive background and diverse professional experience have been instrumental in delivering exceptional results and earning the trust and recognition of her clients.
Mavis’s practice areas include residential and commercial transactions, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, succession and family trusts, wills and estate planning, family law, and immigration.
